Forest Hill is in the foggy Western half of San Francisco. It features trees, streets that follow the natural curves of the hill, and, of course, fog!
Forest Hill has over 700 detached single-family homes, a clubhouse built almost 100 years ago, a neighborhood association, and wonderful large street trees along the parking strips and islands.
Come back again to see the latest news and photos of my neighborhood. I hope to post articles on notable past residents, architects, and landmarks from time to time. If you are first time visitor, please visit my Archives section. You might find some interesting tidbits there.
I'm Kay Yonemoto, a long-time resident of Pacheco Street, and former Executive Secretary of the Forest Hill Association.

December 2015:
Rain !! Residents might want to check the tree gators. Some trees might suffer If the gators fill with water and never drain. Soggy roots can lead to problems. October 2015: The plum trees have blossoms. Plum trees usually bloom in early spring. What an odd year for our trees. September 2015: Forest Hill residents may have noticed the unusual condition of the Forest Hill street trees this year. The large elms have just begun to leaf out; the cherry trees didn't bloom in the spring as expected. The plum trees bloomed normally but lost their leaves sooner than most years. What is happening? An article in the San Francisco Chronicle recently stated that the continuing drought along with a relatively warm winter resulted in the cherry trees failure to flower properly. Hopefully, next year will be better. In the meantime, we, homeowners, should continue to water our trees. A San Francisco Chronicle article talked about the importance of watering trees, even mature trees, in this prolonged drought. Read the advice of an expert. Are there "gators" in Forest Hill? Recently many green bags have shown up at the bottom of newly planted trees. These tree gators protect young trees against drought stress by slowly releasing water. However, some homeowners seem to think that just having the gator is enough and don't fill the bag. There are some sad looking newly planted trees around the neighborhood. Read advice from the manufacturer.
